Minela Krupic is a former refugee from Bosnia & Herzegovina who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts. She was exiled to Germany (1992) as a result of the Bosnian war and settled in Australia in 1997. Minela is a printmaker/potter/illustrator who purchased an etching press after winning the 2012 Heartlands Art Prize and with the help of an ArtStart grant. She established a multidisciplinary studio in Docklands with Alesh Macak and Linda Studena as part of the Docklands Spaces initiative. Her studio forms the basis of the arts cooperative Inkling Workshop, a broader printmaking studio. Krupic’ goal is to engage other refugee artists through her work and through the delivery of printmaking workshops at her studio to help them deal with their own challenges adjusting to life in Australia. Minela received the MCM Victorian College of the Arts Pathways Scholarship in 2015 and worked with Multicultural Arts Victoria. The scholarship allowed Minela to travel back to Bosnia and explore her culture more deeply which coincided with travelling to Cambodia to explore similar socio-political issues. The research culminated in an exhibition as part of MAV's Mapping Melbourne Festival and a year later an exhibition with former refugee artists at the Human Rights and Arts Film Festival. 

Minela continues to create artwork branching out into Pottery, watercolour and painting and continues on her journey exploring the light and dark side of humanity.
